If you are interested in establishing a RID Member Section (MS), please complete this application form and send it with a letter of interest, the new MS profile (template provided), 25 signatures and member #s of RID members in good standing and a list of the MS officers and their contact information. After establishing a Member Section, future MS officers are elected in even numbered years with the nomination process beginning in January.

RID MEMBER SECTION PROFILES The Board of Directors, in collaboration with national committees, has developed profiles for each national committee and Member Section. The profiles clarify the committees’ and/or Member Sections’ purpose, objectives, goals, and membership qualifications. Committee and Member Section profiles are available at www.rid.org or by contacting the National Office. Elected officers serving a Member Section are encouraged to regularly review the profile of the Member Section upon which they serve. A template of the Member Section Profile is included at the end of this application.

I. AUTHORIZATION
A. The existence of Member Sections is authorized according to RID Bylaws, Article III, Section 7, which states: “This corporation may establish Member Sections which shall be open to all members of the corporation. Additionally, Member Sections must follow the guidelines set forth in the Policies and Procedures Manual.”
II. DEFINITION
A. A Member Section is defined as any formally recognized group of RID members with common goals and interests consistent with the objectives and purposes of RID.
III. RECOGNITION
A. An application for recognition of a Member Section, bearing the signatures of at least 25 members of RID, Inc., in good standing shall be submitted to the board of directors.
1. The application shall include a Member Section profile consisting of the section’s purpose, objectives, goals, and qualifications for membership.
2. A simple majority of the members of the board of directors voting on the application shall be sufficient to establish the Member Section.
3. In the event that the board of directors denies application for recognition of a Member Section, the board must explain their reasons, in writing, to the applicants who may begin the application process again at any time.
IV. APPLICATION FOR RECOGNITION
A. Name and purpose: Member Section name and purpose shall be included exactly as they appear in the board approved petition for recognition and must include the name of RID.
B. Objectives: Member Section objectives shall be included exactly as they appear in the board approved petition for recognition.
C. Goals: Member Section goals shall be included exactly as they appear in the board approved petition for recognition
D. Membership: Member Section membership shall include no less than the following in the board approved petition for recognition.
1. Membership in RID is required for membership in a Member Section.
2. Members of RID may belong to more than one Member Section at a time.
3. RID membership forms and/or other officially designated RID venues shall be the only means by which members can affiliate with a Member Section.
4. No RID member may be denied membership in the Member Section.
